Capon Bridge Museum

 Blackwater Falls State Park
Named for the falls of the Blackwater River. One of the most photographed sites in WV, amber-colored waters plunge five stories and wind through an eight-mile long gorge. The “black” water is a result of tannic acid from fallen hemlock and red spruce needles. Activities include cross-country skiing, hiking, horseback riding, bicycling, court games and water sports.

Short Mountain Public Hunting and Fishing Area
Explore acres of mountainous woodland along with 15 miles of foot trails mixed among oak and hard pine woodlands. Enjoy 61 acres of beaver meadows, abandoned fields and man-made wildlife clearings. The North River, which crosses the southern tip of the area, is stocked monthly (Fe-May) with trout. Beaver ponds with small populations of warm water fish are found along the 6 mile section of Meadow Run.
